    3 Love Lane, St Ives, TR26 1LL

    56) 3 Love Lane

Just waiting to be discovered on one of St Ives’ little known lanes, 3 Love Lane is our hidden gem. This characterful former artist studio is everything you expect in a town full of artists by the sea. Located just moments from both the Harbour and beaches in the oldest part of town, 3 Love Lane is the ultimate all-season destination.

    Upper Ground Floor

Covered approach steps up from Love Lane to:

Sitting room. A light and bright room with exposed beams punctuated by several large roof lights, plus window onto Love Lane. Iron ducks nest grate and china studio sink indicate the history of the property and are complemented by pretty pine cupboards and large desk. Wooden chairs, TV, armchair, foot stool and Metz settee. Radiator, hot water tank in cupboard, both heated by gas-fired Rayburn plus electric immersion heater.

Access to bathroom through hatch door down steep wooden steps only for the sure-footed – an experience akin to life aboard a large yacht but no seasickness! No handrail. Cottage bath, generous basin and adjacent WC. Low beams.

Bedroom. King-size divan with Hypnos mattress, chest of drawers, built-in wardrobe and bedside sea chests, portable electric fire. Window overlooking rear lane.

    Lower Ground Floor

Kitchen / dining room. Extensive range of natural wood surfaces over cupboards flanking gas-fired Rayburn which provides hot water and partial central heating as well as oven. Separate gas 4-ring hob, microwave, washing machine, fridge, ample cooking utensils and china.

Pine table with wooden chairs complete the cheerful cosiness of this room. Stable door leads into Porthmeor Square. Low beams.

Due to steep and open stairs without handrail this property is not suitable for babies and young children.

I thought the lack of shower might be a problem, as we go in the sea a lot, but in the end, the bath facilities were fine. 3 Love Lane was always warm and welcoming to return to, and it is a credit to the owners that they have resisted modernising, but rather have kept the unique character and charm of this lovely studio home. A perfect retreat for artists and writers, I loved it, and would definitely book again.
