Cornwall Council has announced the road closure of the Wharf for the town to take part in the Queen’s Jubilee Big Lunch celebration to support local businesses, encourage residents into town, restore a sense of pride for residents, reclaiming the streets so that visitors and locals alike can take part in a St Ives Jubilee Street Party!

When: Sunday 5th June and the road will be closed from 8.30am – 11pm.  Notifications will go up around town nearer the time. Fore Street will be reversed so that residents, fishermen, visitors and others who need to access Downalong will not be hindered.

Where: Road closure will be along Wharf Road from the Old Lifeboat station to Old Quay Market.

The event itself:

Communal Seating 

Trestle tables and chairs will be spread across the wharf for businesses to use and a place for people to bring their own food and/or buy from the many local establishments in the town and to sit and enjoy the view.

Stage

There will be a stage outside Sloop Inn with some great bands lined up.

Pop up Stalls on West Pier | Food and Drink Only

In keeping with the Big Lunch and Street Party theme, community groups and farmers’ markets will have pop up stalls on West Pier.

Name: The St Ives Scarecrow Competition – entries submitted by 1st June
Location: St Ives and surrounding areas
Entrants create a Scarecrow representing a decade of her Majesty’s reign. The competition is open to all local residents and businesses. Entries cost £3 online.

Thursday 2nd June
Name: Jubilee CAMEO (come and meet each other), Fore Street Methodist Church (FSMC). Refreshments served. All welcome.

Donations in aid of food bank.

Friday 3rd June
Name: Jubilee Concert with St.Ives Community Choir in aid of the Edward Hain Appeal. All welcome.
