OFF TO A RECORD START!
Organisers of an annual highlight in the Cornish calendar have started work on next year’s event earlier than ever before, with 3 key elements now in place.
St Ives Surf Life Saving Club are unveiling the date of the St Ives Biathlon 2025, with the addition of a brand new category – Senior Vets, as a result of the over 60s age group seeing a significant increase for several consecutive years.
As well as the new category, the club is proud to announce its 2025 headline sponsor – Cornish Riviera Holidays, and the event date – is Saturday 28th June 2025.
With an online registration and payment system to streamline entries trialled in 2024, organisers intend to keep the digital system in place, which is now being updated for 2025 to open registrations to the public as soon as possible.
Chris Simpson, Chair of St Ives Surf Life Saving Club and Biathlon Event Lead explains:
“This is the earliest we have ever been able to announce the date of the next Biathlon, which usually happens around March proceeding the event, along with the exciting news of having our headline sponsor in place with thanks to Cornish Riviera Holidays, plus an expansion of our categories. We hope to have online entries up and running soon, enabling more people to take part than ever before, raising much needed funds for the club.”

2025 marks the event’s 27th year for the Biathlon and the 67th anniversary of St Ives Surf Life Saving Club, with its flagship event expected to draw competitors locally and from all over the British Isles, plus international entries, across the different categories which include the
Main Event – aged 17+; Novice – aged 17+; Juniors – aged 12 to 16; Vets – aged 40 to 49; Super Vets – aged 50 to 59; and the new Senior Vets category – aged 60+.
With sponsors, entrants, spectators and supporters on the day, as well as publicity in the lead-up, during and after the event, the Biathlon reaches far and wide.
