Tucked away in the heart of St Ives, this lovely apartment makes an excellent base for discovering the charm of this historic harbour town. Accommodating up to four guests and one dog, it’s perfect for families or friends seeking a coastal escape. Set in the characterful Downalong area, a delightful maze of narrow streets, it’s just 200 metres from the golden sands of Porthmeor Beach and only 300 metres from the town’s lively mix of independent shops, restaurants and cafés.
Beach lovers will enjoy the choice of six beautiful sandy beaches nearby (there are time-restrictions in high season but dogs are welcome outside of peak season), while keen walkers can easily access the breathtaking South West Coast Path and surrounding countryside trails.
Bright and inviting, the lower ground apartment is accessed via five steps from the street and then 12 steps down to the hallway, or alternatively through the rear patio doors, which open directly onto a courtyard with access onto Back Road East. Inside, the open-plan living, dining and kitchen area is modern and welcoming, complete with cosy seating and double doors that lead out to an enclosed courtyard patio. The property includes a bathroom with a full-sized bath and two comfortable bedrooms, one double and one twin. The enclosed rear patio has a table and chairs, and is a good place to store your beach equipment. Please note that although the courtyard is only for the use of Pennys Place, it’s overlooked by neighbouring properties.

We had a lovely stay a stone throw away from the harbour and all the old areas of St Ives. It was really well kitted out and a nice welcome pack of local essentials. We had no problem with communicating with the owners when we had a little issue. Otherwise have a great stay as we did.
May 1, 2026Lovely area near the island and beaches with a short walk into town, accommodation warm and as expected, the only thing for people to be aware the steps down into the apartment are a bit steep so if you have any walking issues this could be a problem, there is a back entrance that is flat and manageable, but read the introduction book as you will never find it otherwise! But would recommend this accommodation
