Labour in Vain must be one of the oldest original dwellings in Downalong and was an ale house back in the day. Massive granite walls, views from most windows and a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere prove the point. The cottage has been sensitively modernised with white painted beams and walls, discreet lighting and thick granite recesses. It has wooden flooring throughout apart from in the kitchen which has quarry tiles and there is gas central heating throughout. It is approached via a suntrap courtyard looking down Mount Zion which is traffic-free.
