In the historic Downalong area of St.Ives, Slantways is a fisherman’s cottage just metres from the Wharf, with 180 degree stunning views over the rooftops to the harbour, St.Ives Bay and beyond. It has been refurbished with a view to maintaining the original character as far as possible, while offering beautiful and comfortable surroundings.
Kitchen. Generous timber-floored country kitchen with gas fired Rayburn, large family table, ample surface and storage space with original tiling and Belfast sink. Electric portable hob rings, small electric oven, microwave, fridge, juicer, coffee grinder etc. The Rayburn heats the house and the hot water (with alternative immersion heater for use in warm weather). During winter visits, there is nothing like ‘coming home’ to this cosy kitchen after a blustery walk along the beach. The Rayburn is perfect for making your own clotted cream and provides an excellent oven, especially for pasties and local fish from nearby Steven’s fishmonger.
Bathroom. Cottage bath and let-down ceiling rack, ideal for drying wet suits and washing.
Up a dozen stairs, a landing gives access to the WC/washroom and to the main room.
Sitting-room. This is galleried, beamed and high-ceilinged and runs the full depth of the house with large windows front and back and exceptional views towards the South over the harbour. The room has original wide floorboards, a wall of panelled cupboards with plenty of hanging and shelf space and an original cast iron fireplace. Simple furnishings include a very comfortable double futon settee, a wide single sofa bed and director’s chairs. There is a small TV with excellent reception should you ever tire of the wonderful ever-changing day and night-time views of the harbour.
